We are happy to announce the release of Simple History Premium 1.2.0 is here. This version introduces a GUI for custom event logging and several internal improvements.
We recently released Simple History 5.8.0 with support for adding custom log entries using the WP REST API and WP-CLI.
Simple History Premium extends the custom logging functionality with a user-friendly GUI for adding custom events directly from within WordPress.

WIth this manual event feature, administrators of your website can add their own messages to the log. This can be useful in many ways. Just to mention a few:
- Document critical security actions: Record when firewall rules are updated, security plugins are configured, or when external security audits are performed.
- Track content strategy milestones: Log important marketing decisions like SEO strategy changes, content calendar approvals, or when new brand guidelines are implemented.
- Monitor third-party integrations: Document when external services like payment gateways, analytics tools, or API connections are updated or experience downtime.
- Maintain compliance records: Keep audit trails for GDPR data requests, accessibility remediation efforts, or regulatory compliance checks that happen outside the WordPress environment.
Entering messages in the GUI will display them in the log, complete with timestamps and user attribution

The new “Create log entry” menu item is conveniently located within the three-dots menu at the top right of the events log, providing quick access whenever you need to document important information.

We hope you will enjoy this feature as much as we do!
